Position:   Physical Education Teacher - Athletic Director

Full/Part Time:  Full Time

Specific Openings:  PE Teacher K-8, Athletic Director K-12

Responsibilities:

• Design, plan, and implement physical education lessons based on state standards of learning
• Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance
• Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students
• Manage classroom behavior; encourage teamwork and sportsmanship
• Ensure that the physical education environment is safe and constructive for all students
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
• Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of state standards of learning
• Maintain records of individual student achievement and evaluate students on a continuous basis
• Uphold and enforce school rules, school board policies, and administrative regulations
• Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance for sports activities and programs
• Oversee the strategic plan for the athletic program and provide motivation and direction
• Effectively handle and delegate tasks to other team/committee members
• Work with the Athletic Committee to prepare budgets for athletic programs and allocate athletic funds
• Supervise the purchase and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities
• Stay current on the various rules-regulations, schedules, budget figures, and personnel information (credentials)
• Manage relationships with coaches, school personnel, and the community
• Act as a liaison with teams, leagues, and other agencies
• Coordinate with coaches on team travel, game scheduling, and practice sessions
• Prepare and present reports on athletic programs, schedules, team performance, finances, areas of improvement, and future plans to the Athletic Committee and School Board
• Mediate any disputes between coaches, parents, and athletes
• Communicate with school administrators regarding scheduling, events, and eligibility

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid Ohio Teaching License or Non-Tax Certificate
• Prior experience in teaching and coaching
• Effective leadership, communication and team management skills
• Excellent knowledge of athletic rules and regulations
• Strong negotiation and public relationship skills
• Good physical health and willingness to travel
• Evidence a mature personal Christian faith consistent with East Liverpool Christian School's Tenets and Statements of Faith by the following:
  • Being a born again Christian
  • Being an active church member
  • Exhibiting a close personal walk with Jesus Christ
  • Modeling an exemplary Biblical lifestyle
  • Evidencing maturity in the understanding and integration of sound Biblical principles in classroom instruction, athletics, and personal counseling
• Demonstrating an understanding of and a commitment to Christian education
• Presenting a positive image of Christ and the school to others and to the community
