Position: English Language Arts Teacher Grades 9-12
Full/Part Time: Full Time
Specific Openings:
- 9-12 Literature and Composition
Report to: Principal, School Board
Responsibilities: The teacher will:
- Follow the Ohio Standards of Learning for English Language Arts and the ELCS Course of Study to deepen students' understanding of the English language through reading, writing, and speaking.
- Instruct students in written and oral content, organization, and mechanics; assign written essays, papers, and oral class presentations; monitor and provide feedback to students through the drafting process; assess students’ finished work.
- Choose reading material for students from a variety of genres.
- Prepare students for ELCS graduation requirements, Ohio State Tests, and higher education.
General Expectations:
- Model, reinforce, and support Biblical perspectives.
- Integrate Biblical themes and principles throughout lessons.
- Plan a program that helps each student achieve learning objectives and curriculum goals.
- Prepare lesson materials and resources.
- Select and use instructional methods and materials appropriate to students and learning activities.
- Utilize a variety of resources to teach skills and foster student development.
- Adapt standard teaching methods to meet different student needs and interests.
- Create a positive and appropriate classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Develop and implement a suitable classroom management system.
- Establish rules for acceptable behavior that align with ELCS policies and goals.
- Implement approved disciplinary interventions.
- Make referrals for assistance where necessary.
- Observe, evaluate, and record students' social and academic progress in online platforms
- Provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians, and administration.
- Collaborate with other staff members.
- Demonstrate an understanding and proficiency in relevant technology.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and energy, flexibility, patience, and creativity.
- Convey a positive image and impression of the school, faculty, staff, and students at all times, inside and outside of school (community, family, church, social media, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Ohio Professional License or Non-Tax Certificate
- Evidence a mature personal Christian faith consistent with East Liverpool Christian School's Tenets of Faith by the following:
- Being a born again Christian
- Being an active church member
- Exhibiting a close personal walk with Jesus Christ
- Modeling an exemplary Biblical lifestyle
- Evidencing maturity in the understanding and integration of sound Biblical principles in classroom instruction and personal counseling
- Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to Christian education
- Present a positive image of Christ and the school to others and to the community
